Many people in the world don’t have access to basic life necessities such as food, healthcare, clean water and shelter. This is where haritable organisations step in. Charity groups or organisations help to make the world a better place and help those in need. As a children’s charitable organisation, we believe every child deserves a bright future and focus on helping to ensure children not only survive but thrive. Below is more about what makes a charity company and why international charities are so important in the world right now.

Save The Children has been championing children’s rights for over 100 years. We believe every child deserves a bright future and we work hard to fulfil our vision of a world in which every child lives, learns and is safe from harm. We help millions of children worldwide in over 100 countries - running evidence-based child-focused programs and providing life-saving aid when disaster strikes. Here is what a charity company is and why the world needs international charities right now:

What are charity groups?

Charity groups are a group or organisations where primary objectives are philanthropy and social well-being. Charity groups cannot make a profit - all money raised must go towards their cause. In Australia, if a charity organisation is endorsed and registered as a deductible gift recipient (DGR), donations to that charity group may be tax deductible (there are some requirements and conditions around this).

To be endorsed as a DGR, the charity organisation must also meet specific requirements. To find out what charity groups are registered as DGRs you can use the ACNC Charity Register. When considering a charity company to support, we recommend checking to see if the charity group is regulated through the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC).

Why international charities are so important

With so many people in the world in desperate need along with the scale of issues such as the child hunger crisis or countries in conflict, outside assistance from international charities is required. International charities can bring in the resources, supplies, expertise and experience necessary to provide the help needed. When disasters strike, supplies and personnel brought in from International charities help to save lives and significantly help with the recovery process.

As an international children's charity, we work in over 117 countries, delivering child-focused programs and emergency relief during a crisis. Examples of the aid we provide internationally include:

Donate to our international charity today

To support the work we do through our charity company, you can make a single donation today or become a monthly giver. Our charity group is endorsed as a DGR so donations over $2 are tax deductible.
