As an organisation that focuses on helping children, we know that in a crisis such as a country that is experiencing conflict, children are the most vulnerable. Having helped children in need for over 100 years we know the best ways on how to help immigrant children. We work hard to provide the immediate life-saving aid with these children and their families need, and then importantly provide ongoing support to ensure they are safe from harm, working to reunite them with their families and provide safe places for them to learn, play and recover.

The Work We Do To Help Immigrant Children
At Save the Children, we believe that all children have a right to reach their full potential, regardless of their circumstances. That's why we work tirelessly to provide aid, development and emergency response programs to help immigrant children and their families.
In 2017, Save the Children were part of an Initiative for Child Rights in the Global Compacts (charities including Save the Children, UNICEF Australia, World Vision, and more) that released a policy brief that outlined key recommendations to protect displaced children. These recommendations are based on the United Nations’ 2016 New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants and includes a ban on detention for immigrant children. We know that education can play a vital role in helping immigrant children and their families thrive. Education can provide opportunities for immigrant and refugee children and increase their chances of success after being approved for asylum. This is why education forms a significant part of our evidence-based programs - we are committed to supporting all refugee and migrant children through our global programs - which focus on education and child protection, so they can thrive despite being forced from their homes.
