Regency Plaza supervisors

Our Save the Children store at Regency Plaza, Sefton Park is currently in need of volunteers to work as supervisors/team leaders.

Position summary

The purpose of the Team Leader (Volunteer) role is to assist with the daily operations of a Save the Children Op shop with the support of the State Retail Team in the absence of the Store or Assistant Manager. 

Key areas of accoutability

Sales and Customer Service

  • Constantly strive to achieve and exceed store budgets and manage controllable expenses
  • Provide and maintain high levels of customer service in line with Save the Children standards
  • In conjunction with the State Retail team develop, support and drive local and National marketing campaigns and promotional activities within the store
  • Ensure all sales are accurately processed  though the cash register and EFTPOS 
  • Authorize no sales, voids, refunds and staff purchases
  • Ensure SCA organisational and program information is readily available to Customers and team
  • Manage Customers feedback and provide solutions where possible

People Management

  • Update and display the Volunteer roster and working in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator ensure adequate Volunteer numbers per shift to provide business continuity
  • Ensure Team Leaders have adequate support and training to effectively run the store as required
  • Ensure all new team members undertake Induction as per Induction checklist
  • Maintain and promote co- operative working relationships within the team
  • Actively promote Volunteering with the view to increase and maintain adequate Volunteer numbers
  • Maintain compliance with SCA policies and procedures and ensure all team members do same
  • Maintain a high standard of personal presentation within the store team
  • Provide ongoing feedback to develop and maintain performance of individuals within the team
  • Ensure maximum time is spent on the shop floor providing support and training to the team
  • Attend managers meetings, training and compulsory SCA training as required
  • Represent SCA in a professional manner in accordance with the Code of Conduct
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy in all matters relating to SCA encompassing the team, customers, procedures and security
  • Ensure all team member sign in and out at the start and end of their shift

Operations

  • Adhere to and maximise store trading hours
  • Organise and delegate tasks to team members to ensure the smooth operation of the store
  • Ensure all team members fully understand, have access to and comply with policies and procedures 
  • Ensure the team has access to relevant communications from the State/National Retail team
  • Maintain high visual merchandising and store presentation standards
  • Ensure all paperwork is managed in line with Retail and  finance policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and tidy store including back room and kitchen
  • Provide additional hands on support to the Retail team as required

Stock Management

  • Regularly communicate stock needs to the State Retail team to maintain adequate stock levels
  • Adhere to stock management procedures and ensure all team members are trained in same  
  • Process stock accurately as per stock management guide ensuring all processes are followed and pricing aligns with State pricing guidelines
  • Provide Retail team with feedback on department sales, effectiveness of stock categories and store layout

Financials

  • Ensure all sales are processed through the cash register
  • Maintain cash register float 
  • Ensure petty cash is utilised for authorised store purchases only and is reconciled as per  finance procedures
  • Ensure all moneys are accounted for,  paperwork is accurately completed and money banked daily
  • Manage controllable store expenses

Loss Prevention

  • Ensure cash is secured daily including immediate closure of cash register after use
  • Complete key register for a team holders and ensure that no keys are cut or handed over to other team members unless authorised by Retail team
  • Strictly adhere to security procedures when opening and closing the store 
  • Maintain awareness of internal and external theft and take preventative actions

Health, Safety, Security and Risk Management Requirements

  • Act in a safe manner at all times, including complying with all safety instructions and training given at the workplace.
  • Participate in and contribute to Health and Safety awareness and improvements.
  • Comply with emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Report all incidents/injuries and potential hazards in a timely manner.
  • Be aware of, and consider, the risks associated with your everyday work and apply appropriate mitigation measures

Person specification

Essential skills & experience

  • Organised and reliable
  • Care with personal presentation
  • Ability to commit to regular weekly shifts
  • Ability to stand for a minimum 4 hours

Training provided

  • Induction to Save the Children policies,  processes and Code of conduct
  • Store induction 

Confirmed volunteers will be required to:

  • Read and accept the Save the Children Volunteer Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy
  • Agree to a National Police Check being undertaken on their behalf
