As long as it takes

20 July 2018, Impact of Our Work

After four years, Joy has finally been able to return to her mum

With your support we’ll continue to help children in South Sudan find a way home to their families – for as long as it takes.

In 2014, Joy* was separated from her parents during the conflict in South Sudan. The chaos of the violence tore them apart. Initially, she was able to stay with her aunt but she soon found herself on the streets of the capital, Juba.

With the support of donors like you, we were able to work with our partners to reunite Joy with her family. In June 2018, they were together again.

For Joy, it means she can start dreaming about the future again. “I am happy now to be reunited with my family,” she says, “I want to continue with my school and become a doctor to treat people in my community”.

So far, we have helped reunite 5,527 children with their families.
