2022 Annual Report

Save the Children Australia is part of the world’s first and leading independent children’s organisation. We work to protect children’s rights in Australia and around the world.

2022 was a year when we achieved BIG things

In 2022, we acted with agility and urgency to lift up the rights of children through our actions and our advocacy. We did so in Australia by working alongside communities to understand and address the immediate and long-term impact that crises have on children. We did so globally with the conflict in Ukraine, leveraging the best of our social enterprises and technology to create impact for children on the frontline of a war. In Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, we helped children and families to bounce back from COVID-19 and grapple with the harsh realities of climate change.

In this Report we highlight some of the ‘big ticket’ impacts of 2022, but we know thousands of actions from thousands of people were needed to deliver these outcomes. To all who played a part – our dedicated staff, partners, governments, donors and the resilient communities we serve – we extend our heartfelt gratitude. We couldn’t achieve what we do without you.

Our impact in numbers

To keep ourselves accountable to our supporters and the community we serve, we evaluate the reach, impact and efficiency of our programs and services. In 2022 Save the Children Australia directly reached 1,104,621 people through our services delivered in Australia as 54 reasons and through our International Programs.

Our global humanitarian response

Save the Children Australia is part of a global movement delivering programs around the world. In 2022, our corporate and individual donors contributed $2.9m to global emergency responses, from the outbreak of conflict in Ukraine, to the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa.
