Save the Children Op shop

See what you need to consider before donating to a Save the Children op shop.

With so many charity shops around, it can be hard to figure out where to donate your goods. Save the Children op shops are situated in convenient locations all around Australia.

Staffed by our team of friendly and helpful volunteers, our charity shops raise much needed funds for our lifesaving emergency response and aid programs in Australia and overseas.

What to consider before donating to a Save the Children shop

All donations to Save the Children stores are sorted through by our dedicated volunteers. To make their job easier, it’s important to consider the following:

  • Are the clothes or shoes you’re donating ripped, stained or torn? If so, we won’t be able to sell them.
  • Are the saucepans, fry pans and cooking utensils of high quality? If not, we’ll find it hard to sell them.
  • Is the kitchen table, chairs and couch in good working order? If not, we’ll have to incur the cost of sending it to landfill.

A simple rule of thumb when donating to a Save the Children op shop is to remember we’re not a recycling plant for torn, soiled or damaged goods.
