In 2023 we stood alongside children
Throughout 2023 we elevated children’s voices to ensure they have a say in the decisions that affect them. In Australia we coauthored a submission on the climate Duty of Care Bill with young people and stood alongside 20 Australian children and their mothers in the Federal court seeking their repatriation back to Australia. In Vanuatu and Solomon Islands we uplifted children’s voices as climate champions supporting their advocacy on the climate crisis. Around the world we continue to work towards more inclusive education systems that allow for the participation of all children, including working with the Mongolian Government to enhance the accessibility of their classrooms for students with disability.
While one report can’t encompass the story of every child who has been reached by our programs, we do offer our gratitude to every person who made it possible. That includes the children and communities who offer their guidance and enable us to achieve the best long-term outcomes, as well as the supporters and staff that keep these critical programs running. Thank you for bringing us closer to our vision of a world in which every child can reach their potential.
Our reach in numbers
Reporting the reach of our programs ensures our resources are meeting the needs of children and helps identify areas for improvement. It also keeps us accountable to the communities we serve and the supporters who make it possible. In 2023 Save the Children Australia directly reached 695,297 people through our services delivered in Australia as 54 reasons and through our International Programs.
Our global humanitarian response
Save the Children Australia is part of a global movement delivering programs around the world. In 2023, our donors contributed $2.5m to global emergency responses.
