All for a better future
Victoria used to tell her friend Alison about her experience as an aid worker in Cambodia. Alison - with her teacher’s heart and mind - just wanted to help. She was amazed to hear about the initiatives and successes of Cambodian teachers and students in the 1990s, despite having little resources. Sometimes there wasn’t even anything for the children to write on.
These days, Save the Children is using solar technology to help build and maintain Cambodia’s floating schools; and we’re still training teachers.
However, decades of environmental pollution and unsustainable fishing practices are damaging biodiversity and making the future much more complex for children like Ratana.*
That’s where future-focused, visionary gifts like the one Alison has chosen to leave in her Will can make such a difference. It has the power to help struggling families adapt towards sustainable incomes such as making and selling non-polluting washing up liquid, and introducing eco-friendly household water purification and waste management systems.
And we’re empowering the next generation of children and teachers through education - all for a better future.
