UWA Branch book sale

120,000 books on sale at the 55th annual Save the Children UWA Branch book sale
17 August 2018

The annual Save the Children UWA Branch book sale starts today!

Held from 17th – 22nd August in Winthrop Hall UWA, the sale includes more than 120,000 books across 50 categories including fiction, cook books, self-help, children’s books at very reasonable prices.

All funds raised will support Save the Children’s important Australian and international programming.

A special feature of this year’s event is the ‘The Flash Book Sale’ at Hackett Hall CafĂ© on Saturday 18 August and Sunday 19 August where you can purchase some very ‘flash’ books that have been donated.

These include Folio Society Editions (carefully crafted releases of the world’s finest literature), children’s boxed collections, vintage, rare and collectible books, first editions and books signed by their author, specialised text books, car and bike manuals, classic board games, maps, bookmarks and postcards.

The Book Sale is a huge undertaking driven by 60 dedicated branch volunteers plus an additional 150 volunteers including UWA students recruited specifically for the six-day fundraiser.

Save the Children volunteer, and co-ordinator of the sale, Diana Walker said there is something for everyone at the UWA Branch Book Sale with prices starting as low as 50 cents.

“We are delighted that this massive book sale allows us to sell good quality books at great prices to raise money to support children and families,” Ms Walker said.

“Funds raised through the sale supports Save the Children programs throughout WA in areas including Armadale, Gosnells, Kununurra and the Dampier Peninsula.

“For more than 55 years, generations of families from across the state and country have supported this iconic event and enjoyed their purchases. We encourage all book lovers to mark this exciting event on the calendars, to unearth their next literary treasure and support a good cause!”
